Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is a least developed Sub-Saharan country, but its government has made serious efforts to improve the business climate. In its 2011 report the World Bank includes Burkina Faso in the group of top ten Doing Business reforming countries over the past few years.
In the overall Doing Business ranking Burkina Faso has moved up from 154th in 2006 to 151st in 2011. The life of an entrepreneur has indeed been made easier: e.g. starting a business used to take 12 procedures and 45 days back in 2005, but only 4 procedures and 14 days in 2010.
Burkina Faso’s GNI per capita has gone from US $ 360 in 2005 to US $ 510 in 2010.
Burkina Faso’s employers’ national and international interests are being represented by the Conseil National du Patronat Burkinabé (CNPB), a member of the International Organisation of Employers.
As such, DECP undertook a fact-finding mission to the CNPB in 2010. As a follow-up to that mission DECP has organised 2 workshops on communication for staff and members of the CNPB.
A workshop on Governance and one on Lobbying have been given in the autumn of 2011.
