Senegal
Senegal is a low-income Sub-Saharan country with a tradition of substantial government involvement in the economy. The government has tried to improve the business climate: starting a business would take 9 procedures and 57 days in 2005, while in 2010 it would take only 4 procedures and 8 days. On the other hand an entrepreneur trying to get a contract enforced would have needed 33 procedures and 485 days in 2005, as against 44 procedures and 780 days in 2010.
Overall, Senegal’s ranking in the WB Doing Business report has gone from 132nd in 2006 to 152nd in 2011. Its GNI per capita has gone from US $ 670 in 2005 to US $ 1040 in 2010.
At this moment no activities are being undertaken between DECP and employers’ organisations in Senegal.
