Sudan

Sudan is a low income Sub-Saharan country that has seen its GNI per capita rise from 530 US $ in 2005 to 1230 US $ in 2010. Government involvement in the economy is substantial and reform of the business environment is slow. The one noteworthy exception is registering property which requires only 6 procedures and takes no more than 9 days.
Sudan’s ranking in the WB Doing Business report has gone from 151st place in 2006 to 154th in 2011.
Sudanese employers’ national and international interests are being represented by the Sudanese Business and Employers Federation (SBEF), member of the International Organisation of Employers. At a recent meeting with DECP, Sudan’s ambassador to the Netherlands promised to contact the SBEF in order to explore opportunities for cooperation.
