The DECP attended and supported a meeting of the East African Employers Organisation (EAEO) Technical Committee meeting  in Arusha, NorthernTanzania on 16 & 17 August 2012. The meeting  provided an opportunity for members to discuss developments made by the EAEO Coordinator  in representing their interests at the East African Community (EAC) level.

The meeting discussed in detail the Terms of Reference (TOR) for a study to be undertaken on the “Implementation of the Common Market Protocol Commitments on the Free Movement of Labour in the EAC”. Agreement was reached on the TOR and instructions given to the EAEO Coordinator to arrange for a consultant to undertake the study. It is expected that the results will be prepared by the end of November at which time they will be discussed by EAEO members at a validation meeting. It is expected that the outcome of this study will provide the basis for the work of the EAEO in 2013 and beyond.
