The DECP country manager for Tanzania undertook an advisory mission to meet with both ZANEMA (employers organisation for Zanzibar) and with the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) in Dar es Salaam.
The main issue discussed with the President and Executive Director of ZANEMA was the role that it could play one of the founding members of the East African Employers Organisation (EAEO). The meeting was also an opportunity for the DECP to share some thoughts on membership recruitment and retention.
The mission was also an opportunity to visit ATE to discuss progress on its work on the Skills Development Levy (SDL). Significant progress had been made and the ATE position had been presented to the Government Committee on tax. Information on progress was being sent to the wider membership.
