New food and drink association in Albania

After several months of preparatory work, the foundation of the new association of food and drink industries of Albania took place on Tuesday 9 June in Hotel Tirana International.

The assembly was chaired by Mr. Luan Bregasi, a former chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Tirana and well-known businessman in the food industry of Albania. At the end of the meeting he was also elected as chairman of the ad-hoc committee who will prepare the registration of the new federation at the court of Tirana. Mr. Bashkim Sala was appointed as secretary general of the ad-hoc committee.

The meeting was attended by 25 important businesses of food and drink of Albania, from different sub-sectors.

DECP was represented at this meeting by Mr. Jean-Marie Standaert, special advisor, who made a presentation on the importance of a strong business organization for food and drink in Albania in view of the coming EU-accession negotiations.
