CAMFEBA: Cambodian Federation of Employers and Business Associations

The Kingdom of Cambodia is a Southeast nation with a population of some 16 million people. The capital is Phnom Penh which is the seat of Government and also the location of the Cambodian Federation of Employers and Business Associations CAMFEBA.

CAMFEBA has a membership in the region of 300 which is made up of direct members as well as a number of sectoral organisations. These members are served by a secretariat of 12 staff and a Board of 12 members. Although CAMFEBA has faced a number of difficulties over the last few years in respect of management it has maintained its membership.

Garment manufacturing is the major industry in Cambodia however as this is such a competitive industry employers need to continue to ensure that they are competitive compared with other Southeast countries. It is accepted that CAMFEBA has a key role together with the sectoral organisations to ensure this competitive edge.

The DECP has worked with CAMFEBA since 2015 and has provided the organisation with a wide range of technical and financial support. This has included work on a White Paper to the Cambodian Government for consideration in the national elections in 2018.

The services offered to its membership include legal compliance, training, policy and advocacy and membership networking events.

A major challenge for CAMFEBA is to grow its membership and to ensure that it has a sustainable subscription structure in place.

CAMFEBA is a member of the ASEAN Confederation of Employers ACE and plays its part in inputting to regional policy on a wide range of employment issues.
