Acquiring the technique of Job description and Job evaluation

From September 21st to 23rd  2011 DECP organised a workshop in Lusaka, Zambia on job description and job evaluation. The knowledge of job description and how to evaluate jobs is limited in Zambia. ZFE has often been asked by their members to provide this kind of service but had until now to give no for an answer. There are also hardly any Zambian consultants with enough experience in job description to do this job. So often consultants have to come from abroad, mostly Zimbabwe, if members of ZFE urgently need a system for job description and job evaluation.

Therefore,  the workshop, given by a former consultant of the Dutch employers organisation AWVN, Kok Visscher, met a real need. The workshop was attended by staff members of ZFE who in future will be trained to offer members job description and job evaluation and some members of ZFE who are interested in this kind of service. The general conclusion of the participants was that the ORBA-system as presented, which is widely used in the Netherlands, is also suitable for Zambia. ZFE will start with drafting 10 to 20 model job descriptions and will then be trained to acquire more experience.
