From 5 to 6 September 2017 DECP and its Mongolian partner employers’ organisation MONEF held a workshop in Ulaan Baatar at which skills policies in Mongolia were discussed. The workshop served as the starting point of a three year project on improving skills policies in Mongolia, and the input of business through MONEF on this issue. Speakers from the Ministry of Labour, DECP and MONEF gave a survey of the scope of skills policies, the local situation and the role of Mongolian business in influencing such policies. A lively debate between representatives of business, schools and universities and government agencies resulted in some conclusions that are a useful starting point for a long-term action on improving skills development in Mongolia. The workshop was attended by 18 persons, apart from the three speakers.
