DECP supports engine of economic growth

DECP recently supported the Private Sector Federation (PSF) of Rwanda in reaching its next level of development.  During a week in June DECP trained all of PSF’s 30 district coordinators and 10 chambers directors in the fields of advocacy, communication and member recruitment and retention.

PSF are in the process of expanding its network into all regions of Rwanda and in all sectors of Rwandese economy. All district coordinators and chamber directors (chambers being clusters of economic sectors, e.g. all  ICT related activities form a chamber) were recently  appointed by the federation.

Developing the private sector is one of the key policies of the Rwandese government of Paul Kagame and is also one of the key factors in the recent economic success with growth rates of up to 8%  per year of Rwandese GDP. The government has set up a structure of tripartite discussions. Development of a private sector federation that truly represents Rwandese business is therefore much welcomed by the government as well as by the private sector itself.
