Developing Skills and regional Chapters

DECP undertook a two day mission to the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) on 14 & 15 February 2018.

The mission had two main objectives. The first being to discuss preparations for the proposed one day conference on skills to be held in Manila on 20 April 2018. The event will be an ASEAN Confederation of Employers (ACE) conference and is expected to be attended by some one hundred and fifty delegates from the Philippines and the other nine ASEAN countries. The conference supported by DECP will provide the opportunity for employers organisations and their members to share best practise in skills development as well as agreeing on the way forward both at a national as well as at an ASEAN level.

The second objective of the mission was to discuss the current project undertaken by ECOP to develop its regional chapters with support from DECP. It was noted that professional staff had been appointed for a period of six months and would be working to develop their Chapters in increasing membership and services. It was agreed that a meeting would take place in April in Manila to discuss progress.
