The DECP undertook one of its regular advisory missions to the Private Sector Federation (PSF) in Kigali from 20-21 May 2013.

The mission provided the opportunity to take forward the proposed idea from the DECP for the PSF to hold a workshop in Kigali on the future of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Rwanda. TVET has been identified as a major challenge facing Rwanda bearing in mind the large proportion of young people in its population. The current quality of TVET provided is not acceptable to either the government or the private sector.

Discussions took place on the appointment of a consultant to look in detail at the current situation of TVET in Rwanda and to draw up a private sector position. This position will then be presented at the workshop which is envisaged will be held in Kigali in mid July supported by the DECP.

During the course of the mission meetings also took place on follow up training sessions for the district staff of the PSF and also the Directors of the Chambers and Associations building the work undertaken in 2012 by the DECP.
